About Me
My Background
Hi, I'm Alex!
Before I moved back to Devon in 2021 I lived in London for 15 years working in the charity sector for mental health and rough sleeping organisations in both front line and managerial roles. I have worked in a part time role with Exeter University for the past 4 years supporting students in a welfare capacity. My spare time is mostly spent either with family and friends, gardening or trying to be creative. As a Film Studies graduate and writer of plays and short stories I have a keen interest in creativity and the arts. This inevitably plays a role in my therapy through the use of metaphor, imagery, sandtray and art based methods such as drawing, painting or collage to express feelings.
Why Choose me?
Professional standards: As a fully accredited NCPS member, my practice adheres to strict ethical guidelines of confidentiality and respect ensuring a high standard of care in every session. I have a background and training in Safeguarding Adults, have regular peer and individual supervision and I am fully insured.
Location: My room is located in Dartington Hall with its 26 acres of tranquil grounds which we can make use of during ecotherapy sessions. I also have a lot of experience working therapeutically online so we can also meet in this way if needed.
Integrative approach: My core level four diploma training in therapeutic counselling with Step by Step Counselling encompassed a range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Sand Tray therapy.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
