Hi, I'm Alex

Compassionate, Mindful, Nature Based Counselling In Dartington

About Me

I work as an integrative therapist with a core foundational training in person-centred therapy. From my room in the beautiful grounds of Dartington Hall I provide a safe, confidential and trauma informed space to help explore what to do with this ‘one wild and precious life’.

As well as my predominately person-centred approach I am very influenced by eastern traditions of philosophy and thought. Through over 20 years practice in insight meditation and as a trained meditation teacher through the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation, I can offer a mindful connection with a style of listening borne from an inner stillness and authentic curiosity about others, tuning carefully into what is said and what is not said. By working in this way new opportunities can spontaneously emerge and firmly held beliefs may be seen in a new light.

quotes

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than they seek.”

John Muir

As a long standing therapy client myself I fully understand how much of a big step asking for help can be. My approach is warm and empathic respecting the unique relationship that develops with each and every client. This safety and trust provide the right conditions to explore events that underpin our behaviours and allow us to look at new and more helpful ways of being.
